About this map
FarmStandList is a directory of places that sell straight from the farm: farm stores, staffed roadside stands and u-pick farms, and unattended honesty-box tables. It is free to search and free to list on, and it takes no part in any sale.
What's here right now
646 listings across 44 states. So far we added every one of them from the stand's own website; none has been submitted by a stand yet. 569 show a street address, and 514 say whether they open year-round or for a season. Large parts of the country have nothing on the map yet.
Where the listings come from
There are two sources, and every listing page says which one it is.
Added from the stand's own website. An empty map is no use to anyone, so we started this one from state farm directories and searches, then read each farm's own website. A stand went on the map only if its own site showed it operating, and we recorded only what that site said: products, season, payment, and a street address only when the farm publishes one. Anything the site didn't say is left blank and shown as "ask the stand". Each of these listings shows the date we checked it. We have not spoken to any of them.
Submitted by the stand. Anyone running a stand can list it through the form. A person reads each submission before it appears, to keep out spam and nonsense. That review is not verification: nobody visits, inspects or checks what's on the table.
If a stand we added is yours, submitting it under the same name sends your version to the same review, and once approved it replaces ours.
What we don't do
- This is a small independent site run by a couple of people. The person who reads submissions checks that they look like a real stand; nobody inspects farms or tastes the produce.
- Descriptions are the stand's own claims, or a plain summary of their website. Words like "organic" or "no spray" are theirs, and nobody here audits them.
- No listing is paid, promoted or sponsored. Nobody can buy a position. Results sort by distance when you search and alphabetically when you don't.
- No payments pass through the site, and we take no commission.
- We don't rate or review stands, because we have no honest basis for doing it.
How addresses are handled
A farm stand is somewhere you drive to, so when a stand publishes its street address we show it, with links that open it in Google Maps or Apple Maps. Stands that list themselves can leave the address out, which suits a table at the end of a home driveway: those listings show only the town and ZIP code.
Either way, the pin on our map sits at the middle of the stand's ZIP code, not on the building, because we don't convert street addresses into map points. Use the map links, or the stand's own instructions, for the last mile.
If you use the "Near me" button, your browser asks permission and the coordinates stay in your browser to sort the list. Searching by ZIP sends only that ZIP to our server.
Listings go stale
Stands close for the season, change hands, or stop. Every listing shows how long ago it was listed or checked, and ones older than about six months carry a warning. Nothing here is a live inventory, so on a long drive, check the stand's own page or call first.
Corrections and removals
Stand owners can correct a listing by submitting it again under the same name. To have a listing taken down, or to tell us a stand has closed, use the contact page. A person reads every message.
